The Legacy Desk Top Design Scenario
The basic idea with any top-down method of design is to create a large, desktop screen and then add additional code to modify the design for smaller screens.
As a result, you are overloading the smaller devices with far too much and unneeded information causing the smaller devices to lag at excruciatingly low speeds. Most mobile user will leave a slow loading site within 5 seconds.
Some of the causes are:
- High resolution images with large file sizes
- Unnecessary use of Cascade Style Sheet code
- Incorrect web server setup
By developing in the top-down method, you severely limiting your incoming traffic from mobile users to a slow load UX experience.
