COVER REMOVAL HP III/IIID
The cover removal for the series III/IIID
printer is a little different from the series II/IID. The main body cover comes
apart into four pieces and each one must be removed separately.
- Open the hinged top cover assembly.
- Remove the 3 screws securing the
upper portion of the main body cover. Then squeeze the rear
right side cover together while gently lifting up on the
rear part of the top panel. This is a little tricky so be
patient. The top panel will pop up, then rotate the rear of
the top panel up to the vertical position and lift it off.
- Remove the right side panel by
removing the 2 screws, 1 at the rear by the power switch and
one at the front of the panel. Lift the panel up to remove.
- Remove the 3 screws securing the
left side panel and lift the panel up to remove.
- The
front cover panel has no screws securing it so it will just come light off.
Make sure to disconnect.
FUSING ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 4 screws securing the
fusing assembly to the printer. One at each corner.
- Grasp each side of the fuser and
carefully lift the fuser up and out of the printer.
- Installation is the reverse of removal.
UPPER COOLING FAN:
- Disconnect the upper fan cable from
the AC driver.
- Remove the 2 screws securing the
upper fan shroud to the ac driver and remove the shroud.
- Remove the 3 screws securing the
upper cooling fan to the ac driver, there are 2 in the front
and 1 in the rear of the fan and remove the fan.
- Installation is the reverse of removal.
MAIN PICK UP ROLLER AND TRANSFER CORONA:
To remove the main pick up roller and
transfer corona you must first remove the front support plate. Leave the front
support plate off until you have changed the pick up roller and the
transfer corona. Then you can re-install the front support plate. The front
support plate is the large silver metal plate covering the front of the printer.
- Remove the 1 ground wire screw and
disconnect the cable restraint by squeezing the plastic
clips in and pushing the restraint in.
- Remove the 6 screws securing the
plate to the printer. There are 2 on top, 1 on each side and
2 on the lower front.
- Carefully lift the front support
plate lightly and to the right to avoid snagging the
laser/scanner cable assemblies.
- When re-installing the front cover support plate be sure to re-install the cables
properly.
MAIN PICK UP ROLLER
- Disconnect the main motor connector
from the DC power supply.
- Remove the 3 screws securing the DC
power supply to tile printer frame. There are 2 in the front
and 1 in the rear of the supply.
- Locate the main pick up roller
assembly shaft. There is a screw securing a black plastic
clip in place on each end of the shaft. To remove the screws
you must place your screw driver a approximately a 60 degree
angle.
- Remove both screws. Lift the
assembly up slightly and slide it out through the hole in
the right side of the frame where the DC power supply was
located. You may have to rotate the shaft so the `D' roller
can clear the frame.
- Installation is the reverse of removal.
TRANSFER ASSEMBLY:
- Remove the 4 screws securing the
registration assembly onto the printer frame. One at each
corner. Lift the registration assembly up and out of the
printer.
- Remove the 4 screws securing the HV
power supply onto the printer. 2 on the power supply and 2
on the connector arm. Lift the HVPS up and out of the
printer.
- Locate the 2 screws securing the
transfer corona into the printer. One at each end of the
corona.
- Remove these screws and lift the
transfer corona out of the printer.
- Installation is the reverse of removal.
