| Description |
|
Serial buffer overflow error. The host computer did not receive, or ignored, the printer's request to suspend the flow of data causing the printer's buffer to overflow. Press Continue to clear the error message. Verify that the proper printer cable is being used and that both ends of the cable are tightly connected. If the error appears on the printer at bootup, check to see if the printers serial cable is plugged into the computer's parallel port. If running parallel, the cause could be a bad cable or printer interface. If the error appears only after data is sent, there may be incompatible handshaking protocol; for example, XON/XOFF, or DTR. By default, the printer lowers the DTR polarity and sends XOFF (DC3) to suspend the flow of data. DTR is raised and XON (DC1) sent to resume the flow. |
